unjust probate made of such Rights as we' have scene & been

informed, Wee doe therefore as well for the Ease benefitt &
certainty of the Inhitants of this our Province, and other psons
Inhabiting tradeing or resideing within the same, as also for
the preservation of our owne just right, and property hereby
fully resolve determine & ordeine that noe rights shall here-
after be prooved admitted or allowed off for the takeing up of
land within our sd Province as formerly by the condicons of
Plantacon of our late deare ffather Cecilius &c. of noble
memory hath been accustomed but for the encouragemt of any
pson or psons Adventure or Adventures or others Inhabiting
resideing or tradeing within this Province, Wee doe resolve
determine & ordeine & hereby declare publish and make
knowne that any pson or psons Adventuring tradeing Inhiting
or resideing within this our Province, and willing to take up
any land here shall for every ffifty acres of land he or they
shall designe to take up as aforesaid pay or cause to be paid
unto us or our heyres the just Quantity of one hundred
pounds of tobacco in Cask together with two shillings sterling
yearely Rent, unless on the Seaboard Side or the whorekills
ffor every fifty acres whereof Any pson or psons takeing up
such land shall onely pay for the same as aforesd the summe
of ffifty pounds of Tobacco in Cask together with one shilling
sterling yearely rent, and soe proportionably for any greater or
lesser Quantity He or they first applying themselves to our
Secrys of this our Province or other Officer or Officers there-
unto appointed, and giveing good & Sufficient caution for the
same as to him or them shall seeme meete. Hereby willing &
requireing our sd Sccrys or other Officer or Officers as afore-
said upon such cautioner security given to issue out warrts under
the lesser scale of this our Province for any Quantity of land
to any pson or psons Suitor or Suitors for the same in manner
aforesaid: And to the end that this our will & pleasure may
be made knowne, Wee doe hereby strictly charge & Com-
mand all & singular the Sheriffes of this our Province forth-
with upon Recept hereof to make publick Proclamation hereof
in the most publick and Convenient places within their sev-
erall & respective Counties.
Given at our City of S£ Maries under the greate Seale of
this our sd Province the ffifteenth day of May in the Eighth
yeare of our Dominion &c. Annoq Dmi One thousand Six
hundred Eighty and Three.
