Maryland ss:
You are hereby willed and required to give notice to the
King of Mattawoman and Jackanapes an Indian under him
as also to the King of Choptico and Wingatt one of his
greate men that his Lspp is desirous to speake with them con-
cerning some matters of moment in relation both to them and
us, and therefore hath appointed them a meeteing at the City
of St Maries on Thursday the 25th of this instant August
whither they are desired to come Whereof faile not and for
soe doeing this shall be your warrant. Dated the 17th Day
of August in the sixth yeare of the Dominion of the Rt honble
Charles &c Annoq Dmi 1681 :

Capt John Stanesby Sheriffe of Baltemore County upon
the back of a warRt to him directed the second Day of May
last past for the summoning of Henry Johnson and John
Mold of his County to appeare before his Lspp and Councill
the one and twentyeth Day of the same mo made this
Returne, viz

This warrant came to my hands the thirtieth Day of May
by meanes whereof (the time being expired) I could not
summons the psons within mentioned to appeare at a certaine
time. John Stanesby Sher.

Warrant thereupon issued afresh to summon the said
psons to appeare before his Lspps Justices of the Provll Court
at the next Provll Court to be holden at St Maries the fourth
Day of October next.

Memdu. these following Depositions ded to the Clk of
the Councill by his Lspp to be Entred in the Councill booke viz

Maryland ss:
The Deposition of Mr Edmund McDermott for and in behalf
of the Rt honble the Lord Propry taken upon oath this 15th of
June 1681: before me George Talbott Esqr one of his Lspps
honble Privy Councill
The sd Edmund MoDermott being duely sworne upon the
holy Evangelist saith that on Saturday the Eleaventh of this
Instant June being at the house of Mordecay Hunton in Cal-
vert County and the sd Mordecai haveing newly parted with
Thomas Trueman Esqr Demanded of the Deponent why he
