God Everlasting. Whereas the Emperor and greate men of
Pascattoway have earnestly importuned and sollicitted us to
spare the life of One Wassetass als: Wassetaugh a Pascatta-

way Indian who hath layne undr Suspition of being One of the

murderers of Daniel Conningham and his ffamily at the head
of Pottuxen River in the moneth of August last alleadgeing
that he is altogether innocent and cleare of the same, And
fforasmuch as it hath not fully appeared to us that he is guilty
of the same. Know yee therefore that Wee willing to gratifie

the Request and Supplication of the said Indians Doe hereby
fully acquitt & Absolve the said Wassetass without bringing
him to any further triall. Given undr Our hand and Seale at
Armes the 19th Day of March in the fourth yeare of our
Dominion over our said Provinces. Annoq Dmi. 1678:

land & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To all to whom
these prsents shall come greeting Know ye that we reposeing
speciall trust & confidence in the integrity & abilities of our
trusty & welbeloved Brother in Law Vincent Lowe Esqr doe
by these prsents constitute & appoint him the said Vincent
Lib. R. R.
Lowe to be our Surveyr Genll of all and singuler our Castles
Lordshipps Manners fforrests Chases Parkes Messuages lands
and tenemts woods rents, revenues possessions & heredita-
ments whatsoever within our said Province of Maryland And
we doe hereby also Grant unto him the said Vincent Lowe all
ffees Perquisitts reguards advantages profitts & allowances
whatsoever to the said Office belonging or appertaining as
fully & entirely & in as full & ample manner & forme as any
other of our Surveyrs Generall ever had held or enjoyed the
same To have & to hold enjoy & exercise the aforesaid Office
by himselfe or his sufficient Deputy or Deputyes with all
things thereunto belonging dureing our pleasure Comanding
also & by these prsents firmly enjoyning all & singuler our
Sheriffes and other Officers & Ministers & all other people
within our said Province of Maryland that they be assisting &
aideing unto him the said Vincent Lowe & his Deputy or
Deputyes in the Execucon of the aforesaid Office from tyme
to tyme as occasion shall require & becometh them to doe
Given under our hand & great Seale of our said Province of
Maryland the twenty seventh day of March in the fourth
yeare of our Dominion over our said Province Annoq Dom.
