At a Meeting of the Council of Safety for the Province of
Maryland at the City of Annapolis on Saturday the sixth Day
of July 1776.
Were Present
The Honble Daniel of St Thomas Jenifer Esqr
Charles Carroll, Barrister.
Benjamin Rumsey &
James Tilghman Esquires.

The above members were qualified before Mr Allen Quynn
by taking the Oath prescribed by the Convention.
Mr Richard Ridgely Assistant Clerk was qualified before
Mr Quynn by taking the Oath directed by the Convention.
The Honble Daniel of St Thomas Jenifer Esqr was appointed
President, and The Honble Charles Carroll Esqr Vice-President.
Copy of Letter No I was sent to Lieutenant Col. Henry
Hollingsworth.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O' Clock.

Sunday 7 July 1776

Council met. Present the same Members as on yesterday.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Capt. George Stricker forty five Shillings for the Carriage of
Powder from Frederick Town to Skipton District in Frederick
County.
Copy of Letter No 2 was sent to Brigadier-General Buch-
anan, and Copy of No 3 to Col. John Weems and Lieut. Col.
Rezin Hammond respectively.
The Council contract with John Yost for the making of 300
Musquets at four Pounds five Shillings each and one hundred
Rifles at four Pounds fifteen Shillings each to be delivered at
the Terms and in the Proportions expressed in his Bond.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay the
said John Yost One hundred fifty Pounds common money to
enable him to comply with his Contract.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Capt Rezin Beall
three hundred and Eighty seven Pounds five Shillings and two
Pence on Account of his Company.
Copy of Letter No 4 was sent to Capt, James Hindman and
Lieut. William Harrison respectively, and Copy of No 5 to
Capt Edward Veazey.
