Monday 29th July 1776.

Council met. Present the same members as on Saturday,
except Mr Plater.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay
Capt. Peter Mantz twenty eight Pounds fifteen Shillings on
Account of his Company.
That the said Treasurer pay to Henry Massey Hanson one
hundred and fifty Pounds for the use of Col. Josias Hawkins.
Copy of Letter No 86 was sent to Brigadier General Dent,
Copy of No 87 to the Deputies of this Province in Congress,
Copy of No 88 to Col. Alexander Somervill, Copy of No 89 to
Col. James Kent, and Copy of No 90 to Col. George Dashiell.
Ordered That Captain Nathaniel Smith send to the City of
Annapolis in the Ship Defence five 18 Pounders mounted
on Carriages, and all the 18 & 9 pounders which are not
mounted.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
David Kerr ten pounds two Shillings and six Pence for vinegar
for the Hospital.

That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. James Nicholsun
seven hundred and sixty four pounds on Account of the Ship
Defence.
That the said Treasurer pay to Messrs John Hanson junior
and Christopher Edelen for the Purchase of Arms & Blankets
four hundred Pounds.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Howard four pounds
for a Musquet.
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt Walter Alexander five
hundred Pounds 10 be lodged with the Committee of Obser-
vation for Caecil County for the Purchase of Arms & Blankets.
That the said Treasurer pay to Michael Cochinderfer of
Frederick County three hundred Pounds to enable him to
carry on a Stocking manufactory.
That the Treasurer of the Eastern Shore pay to Severn
Hitch seven hundred and fifty Pounds for the use of Col.
George Dashiell.
Ordered that Capt. John Brooke march such of his Com-
pany as are already raised to Drum Point in Calvert County.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.
