reasons vizt I have not proper Millatary skill or experience
and I cant give satisfaction to the Company in the Execution
of my Command. And there is a certain Casper Keller in the
Company I had the Honour to command whom the people
have chose as Captain and has mustered under for some time
past. And as I conceive sd Keller is capable to serve and can
give satisfaction to the Company and also willing. I hope
Gentlemen, the foregoing reasons, and the suitableness of the
person afd now in command, are sufficient reasons for my
resignation. And at the same time Gentlemen I can assure
your Honours that it is out of no disaffection to the cause that
I resign. And that I always mean to be a useful member to
society as far my abilities will admit of:

Tuesday 18 June 1776.

Met according to Adjournment. Present the same Members
as on yesterday.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Lieutenant Nathaniel Ewing six Pounds four Shillings for
Expences incurred in guarding a sick Prisoner sent from the
Colony of North Carolina, from the City of Annapolis to
Pennsylvania.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to said Nathaniel
Ewing thirty nine Shillings for thread for the use of the
Troops.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Barton Lucas
twenty seven Pounds eighteen Shillings and nine Pence on
Account of his Company.
Copy of Letter No 26 was sent to Cumberland Dugan of
Baltimore County.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Oliver Whiddon four Pounds three Shillings and six Pence for
a Musquet and Accoutrements.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to George Plater
Esquire thirty seven Pounds seventeen Shillings and two
Pence three Farthings on Account of Capt. John Allen
Thomas's Company.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. George
Stricker twenty seven Pounds seven shillings and three Pence,
the Amount of his Account filed.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.
