Thursday 2d May 1776.
Council met. Present as yesterday.

Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr Charles Wallace three thousand Pounds Currency.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Mr John Bullen thir-
teen Pounds five Shillings and two Pence for Carting Materials
for the Magazine.
Copy of Letter No 139 was sent to Col. William Smallwood,
Copy of No 140 to Mr Henry Yost of Frederick County and
Copy of No 141 to Mr John Unseld of said County.
The Council request Major Price to cause any Arms that
may be lodged at Frederick Town belonging to the Publick by
Henry Yost, John Unseld or any other Person, to be brought
safely to Annapolis by the first Opportunity.
Ordered That the Commissary of Stores send to the City of
Annapolis in a Boat to be procured for that Purpose, One half
of all the Linens of every kind now in the Magazine, and
10 Reams of Cartridge Papers: and render an Account of all
the Stores in said Magazine, particularizing the Musquets fit
for Service from those which are unfit, and the Provincial from
the French.
Ordered That Mr Edward Parker of Caecil County send
down to the City of Annapolis by Mr Gilbert Middleton all the
coarse Linen manufactured for the use of the Province.
Adjourned till next Day.

[Council to Smallwood.]

To Colo William Smallwood

Sir: Upon considering the Representations made by Major
Gist relative to Christian Carther the Council of Safety are of
Opinion that his Case comes properly under the 7th Article of
War, and that he cannot be punished with Death, and there-
fore that the appointment of a Court Martial by the Council of
Safety is unnecessary.
2d May 1776

[Council to Youst.]

To Mr Henry Yost (Fredk Coty)
Sir.
In November last you contracted with the Council of Safety
for the Delivery of seventy five Muskets with Worms, steel
Ramrods, Bayonets with steel Blades &c, on or before the
1st of May to the Council of Safety at the City of Annapolis
