530Court and Testamentary Business, 1657.
Liber B. Umphrey Attookes aged 38 yeares or thereabout Sworn and No. 3. Examined Saith that he this Depont was aboard when Edward
Turner demanded Somwhat of Capt Tillman, but what it was that the Said Turner demanded this Deponent knoweth not, but this Depont heard Capt Tillman reply unto the Said Turner, if J owe you any thing Sue me at Law, and farther Said; tht if the Sd Turner did abusee him in the Ship he would Kayne him, And farther this Depont Saith not Signum Umphrey 0 Attcokes

The Deposition of John Lawson Examined and Sworne this 23d of September 1657. Saith, That in or about march in the yeare 1656 Edward Turner being aboard mr Tilimans Ship with me to gett Goods mr Tillman asked me if J knew him to be an honest man, I replyed yes, for that I was Sure he would pay for the Goods he had of him, Goods I see was delivered by mr Tiliman and his man, to the Value of or about Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco, with which Goods mr Tillman Sent in a long boate with two or 3 Seamen and the Said Edward Turner going along with the Said Boate and men to weigh the Said Tobacco, about one or two dayes after the long boat returned back I See the Said Goods brought back againe, with one hogshead of Tobacco received in part of the Said Goods, And I heard the Said Seamen Say that reced the hhd of Tobacco of Turner tell mr Tillman that they would not deliver any part of the Goods to Turner, and the Said Seamen told mr Tillman that he would Shortly provid Tobacco to pay mr Tillman his due, mr Tillman replyed that the Goods Should be kept for him, And farther Saith not John Lawson
