cause be heard I was declared a supporter of one that was
said to Deny the Kings Authority of this order by Letter I
demanded a Copy of the Clerk of the Councill to which I
could obtain nothing but this answer which was not till after
he had been with the Governor—humbly begging your
Ldshps pardon for Interrupting your more important Affairs
with such impertinency having no other Evidence to produce
thn thl beside my Bare assertion in my Defence for the same
reason not being able to see or give accot of this Clerks Com-
mission for publick Notary always a branch of the Office &
communicable to the Secretary (et tale et Semper) nor of

Collo Blakistons Commission for Chancellor nor of any other
Records of that Office, In fine my Lord the sending the
imperfect minutes taken in October against me & the order
of Councill of the 17th of August last the only order I could
ever get by which half the Fees of the Provincial Court where
taken from me expressly contrary to an Act of Assembly, are
I suppose the Reason why I may not see some other orders
perhaps of the like nature, but I submit all to your Lordships
Determination & his Majestys pleasure for whose long &
happy Reign with Increase of perpetual Successes & Felicity
promoted by your Lordships most prudent Administration
none can pray more heartily then does
Councill March 9th

March the 17th 1692
May it please your Honour
I have considered your demands & find my self Obliged
not to give out any Copys of the Councill Book, without
order from the Govr or Govr & Councill therefore at present
must beg your Pardon in that point, I am likewise obliged
to put your Honour in mind of the order of Councill & your
promise to give me a copy of the Agreement between you &
William Taylard which please to send by the Bearer to
Your Honours most humble Servant

Resolved & Ordered that the Contents of the foregoing
Letter of Sr Thomas Lawrence be duly considered & the false
scandalous reflections therein expressed fully & clearly repre-
sented home to the right Honble the Lords of the Committee
of trade & Plantations, Ordered also that the minutes of the
Councill taken in October last & by Sir Thomas mentioned in
his above be produced perused & Examined to proove the

falsity ot those Suggestions A Letter to the same purpose to
be writ to the Lords of the Committee of Trade & Plantations
representing Sr Thomas's Behaviour & rude Deportment
