The Lords of His Majesty's most honorable
Privy Council.

It was this day ordered by their Lordships that the draft of
a Commission prepared by Mr Attorney Generall and ap-
proved by the Lord Chief Justice Holt, consituting Colonel
Lionel Copley to be their Majestie's Captain Generall and
Governor in Chief of the Province, and territory of Maryland
in America be transmitted to the Right honorable the Vis-
count Sidney one of their Majesty's principal Secretarys of
State, who is to cause the same to be prepared for their Maj-
estie's Royal signature in order to pass the great seale of this
Kingdome.

Report touching the Revenue of Maryland.

Memd 23 Feb. 1690/1
My Lord President is desired by the Right Honble the Lords
of the Committee of Trade and Plantations to Report in Coun-
cill that upon hearing the Lord Baltemore and the Agents
deputed by the Convention of Maryland and examining an
Act pastin the Assembly the the 30th of Aprill 1679. concerning
the revenue of that Province, their Lordships do find that one
moiety of the impost of Two shillings per Hoggshead up all
the Tobacco exported from the Province of Maryland is appro-
priated by the said Act for the use and support of the Gov-
ernment there so that his Majesty having thought fit to
appoint a Governor of that Province, It is requisite that the
moiety of the two shillings per hoggshead and such other
Revenue as shall be there raised for those purposes be duly
applied accordingly, their Lordships therefore humbly pro-
posing that out of the Bills of exchange for the said impost
and the duty of fourteen pence per. Tun. already remitted to
England and of such other Bills as shall be remitted for the
said duties by the convention there one moiety of the said
impost be applied (if not already done) to the use & support
of that Government by the Lords commissioners of the
Treasury who may be further directed to appoint such Officer
or Officers in Maryland for the collecting and receiving for
